SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, which is is intended to verify if an e-mail message is sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will stop the forging of emails made with the domain. In simple words: enabling this function for a domain generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it originates from an accredited server. When it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet when it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address to make it look as if you are distributing spam messages. This method is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down menu and type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be permitted to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not some third-party provider. This solution will provide you with the top level of protection, but it's not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are handled in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you will be able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as part of the conventional group of services that you'll get using this type of hosting. Starting the protection will require just several simple steps in the Hepsia Control Panel, therefore even in case you haven't used such a function before, you won't have any kind of troubles. Employing a very time and effort saving interface, you will just have to input the details of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). As soon as the recently created record propagates, nobody will be able to forge any e-mail for that particular domain and send e-mail messages from a server different from the one you have typed in. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, however in case we handle your email messages, you can activate an additional level of protection by choosing an option that e-mails can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only in the event that the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support crew will be able to assist you 24/7 in case you have any questions regarding this service.
